We like to believe we live in post industrialism, on our way to post consumerism, but should we go on on this path, should we abandon manufacturing?  Some say that the post industrial economy is a myth, that we should stop abandoning industries, because we cannot solely rely on services. The author claims that there is enough evidence to support the fact that middle class status will decline at the same pace as the fall of manufacturing. I am definitely not a support of heavy industries, but,I kind of agree with this guy: in order to offer services we will also need manufacturing and manufacturing is so much more than just one industry.  Read the rest of this entry »

Amazon Readies Kindle Fire Update to Keep Up With Apple, GoogleSteve Jobs wasn’t the only leader lacking empathy. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos may be even worse, or better. Amazon managed to be on the 828th position out of 907 in terms of environmental, social and governance factors, which is usually hard for a service company. Only that they might be doing something about it: Amazon is reported to survey corporate staffers everyday about their job satisfaction. Amazon needs its reputation, more as a service company than a manufacturer.

In the competition for the next Steve Jobs, we also have Elon Musk, the Iron Man. Probably closer in terms of vision and compulsive obsessive behavior to Jobs, than Bezos, Elon Musk has a vision. Read the rest of this entry »

Facebook, 10 years

10 years of Facebook.  Quite unprecedented, especially considering those who said Facebook is going to be just another Myspace, Hi5, or similar. Currently Facebook has 1.23 billion monthly users. 2 years ago Facebook reached 1 billion users and it kept growing, despite popular beliefs that 1 billion was a max. 757m users log on daily, Facebook claims. 556 m access Facebook via their mobile device. More than 380 m people like Facebook’s official page. Facebook doubled its price of share since May 2012, reaching 61,48$.
