Branding and marketing Facebook

mark and richRemember when Facebook rolled out its first video ad? It was meant to celebrate Facebook’s first billion. It was the beginning of something Facebook wasn’t really doing: branding. Facebook was reaching its first billion users and from there on, Facebook was believed to collapse, but it didn’t.

A few years later, Mark Zuckerberg is starting to come out as a leader. This year, Mark started a book club and he is definitely more active on Facebook himself, posting progress of their internet.org project. I believe that Facebook Corporation will keep changing the world and I do believe that internet.org as they are building their own market, creating a need. Internet.org can be viewed as half CSR for Facebook Corp.

Finally, it is becoming obvious that Facebook and Mark are starting to build a brand for themselves using the one technology that made them famous, here are a few examples and they are quite awesome

Mark is finally becoming the ambassador of its own brand and showing all the capabilities of social media: a dialog between Mark Zuckerberg and Shakire and Richard Branson, answering a guy from Bangladesh who is asking about the arrival of internet.org in his country. This was the power of social media that changed the way organizations talk to their audience and Mark is using it wisely, in a win-win situation for everyone.
